Recently, a cyber-security firm came across a bug that affects MediaTek chips. So, the bug can affect about 40% of all the smartphones in the world, including some of the top Samsung Galaxy devices released in 2020. However, there is already a fix in making.

A little bit of a background of the MediaTek chips bug
MediaTek SoCs packs an AI processing unit and a digital signal processor (DSP). Check Point Research, reverse-engineered the DSP firmware and found a vulnerability. It allows the attacker to hide dangerous code and listen in on user conversations.
A small number of Samsung smartphones using a MediaTek chipset are technically vulnerable to these attacks. The Galaxy A31, Galaxy A41, Galaxy A03s, Galaxy A12, Galaxy A22, Galaxy A32, Galaxy M22, and Galaxy Tab A7 Lite are among the devices on the list.
Customers who own a Samsung Galaxy smartphone or tablet powered by MediaTek are fortunate in that the chipmaker is aware of the flaw. As a matter of the fact, the company has already addressed the issue last month.
Samsung’s most recent security fixes don’t appear to disclose this flaw. That being said, specifics may be withheld for security reasons. In theory, though, Samsung’s October security patch should already include a fix for this MediaTek SoC issue. Galaxy A and Galaxy M series devices have already received the October and/or November 2021 security updates. What’s more, the vulnerability does not appear to have been detected by hostile parties before MediaTek patched it.
Moreover, if you’re using one of the Galaxy devices listed above, make sure it’s up to date with the current security patch.
