Blackmagic Design has announced an update for DaVinci Resolve. The new update includes a fresh processing engine with major improvements in performance on Apple silicon Macs. Specifically, the DaVinci Resolve 17.3 will offer a 3x performance boost on Apple Macs featuring an M1 chip. The increased speed should support fast playback, editing, and grading of 4K and 8K projects on the software. What’s more, the new processing engine also employs tile-based rendering that should offer notebooks users up to 30% better battery life, when working with DaVinci Resolve.
Moreover, version 17.3 is compatible with new M1 Mac computers for H.265 hardware encoding. Users can even choose either speed or performance while rendering. Plus, the rendering time is up to 65% better.

Furthermore, the new DaVinci Resolve can now decode AVC Intra files with the help of the media engine built into the Apple M1 chip. So, the new update makes the decoding and playback faster when working with the aforesaid file formats.
On top of that, version 17.3 also features FX controls, including new grip shapes and greater precision when using mosaic blur. It will let users finely adjust the amount and appearance of pixelation.
Additionally, the Keyer garbage mattes now pack rotation controls. Thus, it is easier to remove unwanted items from view now. Plus, there are new saturation and gamma controls on the glow plugin that allows greater control and subtly over lighting effects.
