WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to have more control over who may see whether they are online or not. WhatsApp is experimenting with new visibility options in its privacy settings for Android and iOS versions of its app.
There are three choices for online exposure at the time. Everyone, My Contacts, or Nobody will be able to see when you were “Last seen.” However, the most recent beta version of the app indicates that this is about to change.

- WhatsApp is gaining a new feature that will make it easier for us to stay in touch.
New privacy options for the display of the “Last seen” data. This feature tells people when you were last online, WABetaInfo discovered this. The new choices provide considerably more flexibility than what is presently available, allowing users to fine-tune their visibility.
In particular, My Contact Except now has the option to share “Last seen” information. This allows WhatsApp users to establish a blacklist of contacts. They will not be able to see when they were last online. While still, it will share this information with the rest of their contacts.
Hide and seek of privacy settings:
But the story doesn’t end there. The same settings may be applied to your profile image and your About data in addition to the “Last seen” information. In other words, WhatsApp now allows you to conceal potentially sensitive material from a subset of your contacts without having to go so far as to ban everyone from viewing it.
It’s difficult to predict when these new features will find their way into the main WhatsApp release branch. And for the time being, they’re only available to beta testers.
Analysis: putting the user in control:
This may appear to be a minor adjustment on the face, but it is important when you realize that individuals are now using WhatsApp to communicate with friends, family, and co-workers. It makes logical to be able to treat different forms of interaction differently, and that is exactly what is now feasible.
People have long been concerned about WhatsApp’s relationship with Facebook and what this may entail for their privacy. Conversely, the app’s long-standing dedication to employing end-to-end encryption has encouraged those concerned about security and served to assuage those concerned about privacy.
With these new opportunities, WhatsApp is proving its dedication to privacy, which benefits the whole user base.
