Now, you can transfer your WhatsApp chats from iOS to Samsung devices without any trouble. During Samsung’s Unpacked event, the company announced that this feature was coming, as per Verge’s report.
You may want to know now how this feature works. Initially, if users enabled WhatsApp’s cloud backup option, iOS conversation history was saved in iCloud. But in the case of an Android device, the chat histories backed up in google drive.
That was the major issue that made it hard for users to transfer conversations between devices running different operating systems.
“If you’re moving from an iPhone to a Samsung Android device, you can transfer your account information, profile photo, individual chats, group chats, chat history, media and settings,” the company said in a blogpost.
However, the WhatsApp chats migration will be only possible during your new Samsung device’s initial setup. As WhatsApp’s instruction clearly mentioned that “your new Android device must be factory new or reset to factory settings” to allow the migration.
So, if your Android phone is already operational then you have to do a complete factory reset.
For making the feature successful, iOS users must have a WhatsApp iOS version 2.21.160.17 or newer. Where in the case of new Samsung Android devices, the WhatsApp Android version should be 2.21.16.20 or newer. In addition, the Samsung mobile must have the Samsung SmartSwitch application 3.7.22.1 or a higher version. This feature of transferring chats from iOS to Samsung devices will be very helpful for the users that are migrating from iOS to Android.
