Google has revealed a new solution for an old and sluggish laptop that will make you want to use them again. Chrome OS Flex is a fresh operating system from yes you guessed that right Google. What it basically does is, it installs a cloud-based version of Chrome OS on your laptop. What’s more, the user interface is almost identical to that of the best Chromebooks in the market. As a matter of fact, people cannot tell the difference if you won’t tell them.

Minimum specifications required to install Chrome OS Flex
Chrome OS Flex is currently available for download for free, and you can even register to test Google’s new operating system on your own PCs. The only snag is that your computer must meet at least one of the following specifications or be on the Certified model’s list:
- Architecture: Intel or AMD compatible x86-64-bit device
- 4 GB RAM
- 16 GB of internal storage
- BIOS: Full power to the administrator. If you run into problems, you’ll need to boot from the Chrome OS Flex USB installer and perform some BIOS tweaks.
- Processor and graphics: Components manufactured prior to 2010 may provide a poor user experience.
- USB drive can be used to start the computer
It is worth noting that the Intel GMA 500, 600, 3600, and 3650 graphics cards do not match the performance requirements for Chrome OS Flex.
Chrome OS Flex, as previously said, is available starting today in the “dev channel.” Google says a stable version will be available in the coming months, but you can install it on a USB drive and boot from it to see what it has to offer.
