Some reports suggest that OnePlus has started a scheme under which the company is offering battery replacements for some of its older models in India. The company is not charging anything for the battery replacement, except the labor fees. The list of devices eligible under the new scheme includes OnePlus 3, OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6, and OnePlus 6T.
The scheme has already begun so owners with the aforesaid devices can walk directly into OnePlus stores to request the change. Moreover, OnePlus is also offering online battery replacements, under which you have to fix an appointment. However, if you opt for that, you will only get a 50% discount.

Moreover, OnePlus has not revealed any specific reason for this move. However, it may be related to the fact that there is a huge stock of spare batteries lying unused with the company that too for a long period now. Plus, these batteries are old so they won’t be in demand even if the company tries to sell them. Therefore, it can be the case that OnePlus is offering these batteries as a sign of goodwill to the customers. Though the company has several options to dispose of them.
How long before OnePlus rollbacks this scheme?
It remains to be seen for how long OnePlus will continue with this scheme. We don’t have a clue when this scheme started and we don’t know when it is going to end. We will have to wait to see how long the scheme will last. Anyways, one thing is for sure that many devices are going to benefit under this scheme, provided OnePlus don’t roll back the scheme or their inventory lasts that long.
