Asus ROG Ally: The Highly Anticipated Gaming Handheld Set to Launch in India

Asus-ROG-Ally

After the successful launch of Asus ROG Ally in the global market, Asus has officially teased the arrival of the ROG Ally handheld gaming console in India.

The official Asus ROG India Twitter account has shared a teaser for the upcoming device, giving Indian gamers something to look forward to as one of the first current-gen handheld consoles launching in the country.

Asus has scheduled the first sale for July 12, but eager buyers can also watch for a single-day flash sale on Flipkart on July 7.

Pricing and Competition

While the Nintendo Switch and Valve Steam Deck can be purchased in India, they have not been officially launched by their respective brands, leading to high prices for imported consoles and a lack of warranty or customer support. The arrival of the ROG Ally could change that, offering Indian gamers an alternative option for portable gaming.

The growing popularity of mobile gaming in India indicates a strong demand for gaming handhelds.

However, the pricing may be a deciding factor!

Recent leaks indicate that Asus may price the ROG Ally with the AMD Ryzen Z1 processor at 69,990 INR (approximately $853), while the variant with the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor could cost around 79,999 INR (about $973).

Surprisingly, the leaked prices surpass the US prices of $599 and $699 by a considerable margin, potentially giving Indian buyers something to think about before diving in.

But we will have to wait for the official announcement from Asus ROG India to know more details about the pricing.

Asus ROG Ally Specifications & Features

The Asus ROG Ally boasts a 7-inch IPS display with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The display boasts an ultra-smooth 120Hz refresh rate, a dazzling 500 nits peak brightness, and the robust Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection, ensuring both top-notch visual experience and enhanced durability for intense gaming sessions.

Under the hood, the console is powered by the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, based on the Zen 4 architecture, with a lower-spec version available featuring the Ryzen Z1 processor. Paired with AMD Radeon Navi3 Graphics, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD, the ROG Ally promises impressive performance for gaming and multitasking.

Running on Windows 11, the console offers access to a vast library of games from platforms such as Steam, EA apps, Epic Games, and Xbox Game Pass.

As an added bonus, the device comes with a three-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate!

The dual speaker setup with Asus’ Smart Amplifier Technology aims to enhance the gaming experience by providing improved audio quality.

For connectivity, the ROG Ally features a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C port combo for the ROG XG Mobile Interface, and support for a UHS-II microSD card reader. However, it’s worth noting that the battery life of the device’s 40WHr battery with 65W charging support may not be on par with competitors like the Steam Deck.

Final Thoughts

The upcoming launch of the Asus ROG Ally in India is undoubtedly exciting news for gamers in the country.

While pricing remains a critical factor, the device’s specifications and performance capabilities could make it a strong contender in the Indian handheld gaming market.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting gaming handheld from Asus ROG India!
