Dolby Vision is now available on Chromecast with Google TV, as well as improved storage.

Previously, the company has updated the patch until June 2021, which is insufficient considering the importance of security fixes. It’s only two months late now that the October 2021 patch has been applied.

Because the Chromecast with Google TV has a famously small 8GB storage capacity, the “storage optimizations and management enhancements” are beneficial. Chromecast users claim to have gained an extra 200-300 MB of storage after updating. It isn’t much, but it is better than nothing. In the settings, there’s also a new “uninstall applications” tab to help you clear out some space. A list of installed programs and how much space they use up is shown, making it easy to remove or clear the data/cache.

Some applications will be able to play in HDR10 and Dolby Vision videos. There are also additional performance enhancements for DRM video decoding, as well as the normal bug fixes and improvements that most people aren’t aware of but are still critical. There are no substantial new features or UI changes, thus this most likely suggests they’re planning a major upgrade for the future.
