Sony is gearing up to roll out 1440p support on the PS5. However, there is one thing you need to make sure of if you want to try it out, you have to sign up for the PS5 beta program.
Users were expecting Sony to release 1440p support for PlayStation for a long time now. In fact, it won’t be wrong to say that people were expecting Sony to release PS5 with 1440p support. Anyways, it is better late than never and Sony is finally releasing support for the PlayStation. However, it is important to note that it is only available as a part of the PS5 beta program. Anyways, the company has confirmed that it will release the stable version later this year for the global market.
Besides the things mentioned above, Sony has also added a player-created game lists feature. On top of that, there is a menu to compare stereo and 3D audio and several new social features.
The process to enable output on PS5
If you are a part of the PS5 beta program, you just need to go to your console’s settings to activate 1440p settings.

Why 1440p resolution support is important for PS5?
It is worth noting that some of the best PS5 games are already available at native 1440p resolutions like Final Fantasy 14. People who are familiar with this resolution thing, know the effect of display resolution on games. The game appears way crisper when played in higher quality. Specifically, if you are playing the game on a small 1440p monitor, the experience is way better. Another benefit is that the games that natively support 4K can downsample to 1440p.
However, there is a flaw with the new settings on the PS5, it won’t work with the PS5 VRR. The latter was added a few months back and now we have to wait for god knows how many months to receive the 1440p support on PS5 VRR. What’s interesting is, that the VRR already supports 1080P and 4K resolutions. We hope that Sony might fix this by the time it rolls out 1440p support for PS5 owners.
One way or the other, the move to add support for 1440p is something everybody will welcome. This is something that Microsoft’s Xbox has had from the beginning when it was launched. We are still trying to figure out the reason why Sony didn’t equip the PS5 with this feature. We are glad Sony is finally rolling out the support.
