The market is filled with gaming monitors. All these gaming monitors can be broadly categorized into 2 categories- flat screen displays and curved displays. Once you have decided which one you want. Then only you move on to the specifics of the machine like whether to buy an IPS or a VA panel. But Corsair is planning to erase this basic distinction by working on a monitor that can be bent.

In the latest from the company, we all got to hear about the Xenon Flex 45 WQHD240. It is a 3440 x 1440 45-inch monitor that can be bent from a flat screen to a curved one and vice-versa. On the prototype available you can clearly see handles on the edges of the screen to adjust the curvature of the screen. The maximum it will go is 800R. The display is made of LG and is a W-OLED display.

Curved monitors are usually good for gamers

Traditionally speaking curved monitors are good for gamers. As it makes the whole experience more holistic. Flat screens are for users who are looking to get more productivity from the machine. One criticism that is very apparent is how durable and strong it will be over time. As a monitor is a big investment and can’t be changed regularly. We have seen in the past with foldable phones that they have a crease on the display and they are, generally speaking, to be handled with care. Assuming that the 45WQHD240 display will be priced for at least a few thousand dollars these are a few things to be kept in mind.

Now let’s talk about the positives of the display. It will be a high-end gaming monitor with a 21:9 ultrawide panel, 0.03 gray-to-gray response time, 240 Hz refresh rate, and a DCI-P3 coverage that is 99 percent. It has a peak brightness of 1000 nits. Plus, it is also G-Sync compatible but one downside is it does not support VESA mounting.

No official word on the release date or the pricing is out yet of the forthcoming Corsair monitor. However, it will be expensive and Corsair will release more information in the coming months.
