Later this month, Microsoft will release the Xbox TV software. It will let owners of Samsung’s 2022 smart TVs and monitors play Xbox games without a game console. Subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will have access to over 100 games via Samsung’s 2022 smart TVs. It will stream across the cloud and be powered by bespoke Xbox Series X technology. Even if you don’t have a Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you can stream Fortnite for free.
What’s more, the Xbox TV app will work similarly to Netflix on TVs. It will arrive at the scene on June 30th in 27 countries through Samsung’s gaming hub. You just had to sign in with your Microsoft account and stream Xbox games through the app, just as you would using Xbox Cloud Gaming in a browser.
For the Xbox app, Microsoft and Samsung will support a wide range of controllers, including the Xbox controllers, and Sony’s DualSense, among others. All you need to do is simply pair a controller with your phone over Bluetooth, that’s it and you are ready to go. The fact that Microsoft isn’t upgrading its streaming resolution to 4K means that all the games will be made available in 1080p at 60FPS.

Microsoft has partnered with Samsung for the initial development
For the initial deployment of the Xbox app, Microsoft has worked with Samsung. However, it’s unclear whether the app will arrive on other TVs or even older Samsung models as well. “We’re delivering the Xbox App to Samsung Smart TVs first,” says Ashley McKissick, corporate vice president of Xbox gaming experiences and platforms. “Our objective is to explore further TV collaborations as part of this next step in our vision.”
Furthermore, Microsoft first unveiled the Xbox TV app last year. Now, the company will finally release the app and it is definitely a big step for Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud gaming and Game Pass future. The American tech giant has been trying to increase the outreach of its Xbox Cloud Gaming service for a while now. It has already released the app for iOS devices via the browser, as well as web, Xbox One Consoles, and PCs.
Furthermore, Microsoft also has plans to release standalone Xbox streaming devices.
