Microsoft recently revealed that is working with Valve to make the Steam Deck compatible with Xbox Cloud Gaming. It is important to note that the Steam Deck users can already play Xbox games on their Steam Decks. However, they couldn’t use the handheld controls to play games but that’s going to change now. Microsoft has released a beta version of Microsoft Edge for Steam Deck that features all the support.

“We worked closely with Valve and the Xbox Cloud Gaming team to bring support for Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate through Microsoft Edge Beta for the Steam Deck,” says Missy Quarry, a community manager for Microsoft Edge. “We’re particularly excited about this ourselves as we feel it can open new opportunities in the Linux gaming community.”

What’s more, it is possible to run several Xbox Game Studios titles on the Steam Deck. However, it still doesn’t have Xbox Game Pass. As a result, membership holders will have to use Microsoft’s tool instead.

Moreover, Microsoft Edge for Linux now has support for the Steam Deck controls. Users can download it from the Discover Software Center part of SteamOS. Microsoft has also posted instructions for creating a link to Xbox Cloud Gaming on the Steam Deck. This is supposed to make things easier for the users in the future.

This development comes as Microsoft has rolled out specifics about its Xbox Game Studio titles for the handheld. In addition to that, the Steam Deck can already run on Windows, which is one of the ways to access Xbox Game Pass titles.
