AMD introduced the Ryzen 3000 C-series for Chromebooks in September 2020. The chips were based on the 12nm Picasso (Ryzen+) architecture with up to 4 cores and 8 threads and up to 11 Radeon Vega computing units. After nearly two years, AMD has introduced four new Ryzen 5000 C-series SKUs. The company is aiming to bring the performance benefits of its Cezanne (Zen 3) architecture to Chromebooks.
The 4 new Ryzen 5000 C-series processors have a 15 W TDP; the new processors are likely to outperform the existing Ryzen 3000 C-series CPUs and Intel’s 11th Gen Tiger Lake chips in terms of productivity and battery life.

Details about 5000 C series
The top model in the Ryzen 5000 C-series line-up is the Ryzen 7 5825C. This chipset is equipped with 8 cores and 16 threads; it is more than double the previous top-tier Chromebook Ryzen processor, the AMD Ryzen 7 3700C. Plus, it features a base core frequency of 2 GHz and a boost clock of up to 4.5 GHz on a single core. On the other hand, the Radeon Vega 8 integrated graphics offers a maximum boost frequency of up to 1.8 GHz.
The next CPU model on the series is Ryzen 5 5625C. It features 6 cores, 12 threads, and integrated Radeon Vega 7 graphics with a maximum boost clock of up to 1.6 GHz. The 6 cores offer a base frequency of 2.3 GHz, with one of them capable of boosting to 4.3 GHz for workloads that require more power.
The next CPU is Ryzen 3 5425C. It is one of the two entry-level versions in the lineup, with 4 cores and 8 threads. It offers a base frequency of 2.7 GHz and a boost frequency of up to 4.1 GHz on one core. Plus, it also has AMD’s Radeon Vega 6 graphics that can boost up to 1.5 GHz.
With only 2 cores and 4 threads, the Ryzen 3 5125C is the smallest in the new C-series stack. It has a stable core clock speed of 3 GHz. On top of that, it also has 3 Vega graphics compute cores with a maximum boost frequency of up to 1.2 GHz.
Moreover, all Ryzen 5000 C-series models feature a 15W TDP envelope, as previously discussed. To optimize the relative power envelope to fit inside the 15 W TDP threshold; core frequency on both the Zen 3 cores and the Radeon Vega cores will be determined by the application, job, or game being played.
Furthermore, AMD’s battery life promises are possibly the most astounding. When compared to Intel’s Core i5-1135G7 processor, AMD claims that the Ryzen 5 5625C improves battery life by up to 94 percent. In case, if this turns accurate, is quite impressive. Usability is one of the key advantages of the Chromebook series, having a long battery life will boost overall productivity and lifetime when used while travelling.
