It has been quite a while since we have heard about AMD’s next-gen processors based on Zen 3+ architecture. In fact, we haven’t heard anything from the time of their introduction. However, it has changed now as a new benchmark leak has given specifics about the CPUs. Specifically, Geekbench Database recently listed a benchmark in January offering details about the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX. It is just a step down from the company’s Zen 3+ flagship- Ryzen 9 6980HX.
As for specifications, the chipset features an 8-core/16-thread configuration, a base frequency of 3.3GHz, and a boost frequency of 4.84GHz. What’s more, the HX designation suggests that it is an unlocked processor, which means it is in the hands of the OEM to decide the TDP. As a result, the benchmark results don’t talk about the chip TDP.

AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX performance
If we talk about the performance, it is quite impressive. The chipset managed to score 1,503 in single-core performance and 10,151 in multi-core performance. It is about 12% and 33% more than its predecessor. However, the chipset is not better than Core i9-12900H with those points. And it will directly compete with that processor.
The Intel chip features 14 cores and 20 threads configurations. As a result, the multi-core performance of the chipset is much higher than Ryzen 9 6900HX. In fact, Intel is better in single-core performance as well.
However, this is not the final score of the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX’s performance as TDP might have been throttled by OEM.
