AMD has rolled out the AMD Software Preview Driver in May 2022. The latest driver will bring a series of enhancements for Radeon Super Resolution Technology and a performance boost to DX11 games.

Specifically, the Driver May 2022 brings up to 10% higher graphic performance for DirectX 11-based games. What’s more, the firm carried out some tests after implementing the optimizations; the results of the internal tests are as follows-games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and World of Warcraft: Shadowlands are offering up to 28% and 30% better performance.

AMD’s new drivers also bring Smart Access Memory optimizations. Results of these improvements are- 10% uplift in Death Stranding and 13% in Watch Dogs: Legion at 1440p on Radeon RX 6950XT. Additionally, users will also get 12% frame rates in Death Stranding and 24% in Watch Dogs: Legion on the aforesaid chipset. However, the results are not that great in the case of Radeon RX 6650 XT; AMD notices only a 6% increase in Death Stranding and Watch Dogs: legion. The setup for the internal tests included: Ryzen 7 5800X3D and AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 22.5.1 driver for comparison.

AMD didn’t mention a long list of games in the official release notes. However, other games will also benefit greatly from the AMD Software Preview Driver May 2022.

Performance of other games with AMD Software Preview Driver May 2022

CapFrameX’s developer conducted its own tests. In the tests, the developer found out that the new updates offer some significant DirectX11 performance upgrades in Crysis Remastered and God of War. For those not familiar with CapFrameX, it is a famous frame capture and analysis tool.

In the CapFrameX developer’s test, he used a Core i7-12700K and an overclocked Radeon RX 6800XT. He observed up to 24fps higher performance in Crysis Remastered and up to 41% in God of War.

Furthermore, AMD has also rolled out a new version of Radeon Super Resolution technology. The most notable addition in the new version is Sharpen filter. It will allow users to tweak the sharpness of the images. Plus, the company has also made the AMD Bug Report Tool integral to Adrenalin software.

Lastly, users can download the AMD Software Preview Driver May 2022 from AMD’s website. However, before doing that they should keep in mind that it is just a preview driver. So, they might encounter some bugs. Plus, AMD has not revealed the official release date for the final driver.
