Aside from the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which AMD professes to be the world’s fastest gaming processor; AMD updated its desktop processor set with as many as six new processor models spanning a wide range of price points, allowing the company to compete more effectively with the majority of the 12th Gen Core “Alder Lake” processor lineup. The Ryzen 7 5700X is a new processor in the new series. However, unlike 5700G, which is a desktop APU built on the “Cezanne” monolithic silicon, the 5700X is built on the same “Vermeer” multi-chip module (MCM) as the Ryzen 7 5800X. The “Zen 3” microarchitecture is used by both “Vermeer” and “Cezanne.”

New Ryzen models specifications

The Ryzen 7 5700X is an 8-core/16-thread processor with a base clock of 3.40 GHz and a boost clock of 4.60 GHz; compared to the 5800X’s base clock of 3.80 GHz and a boost clock of 4.80 GHz. Another significant difference is its 65 W TDP, as opposed to the 5800X’s 105 W, which could affect its boosting behavior and overclocking headroom. The AMD 5700X is priced at $299 (MSRP), making it a contender to Intel’s Core i5-12600KF. Despite its 65 W TDP, the retail PIB (processor-in-box) version of the 5700X does not contain a stock cooling. It wouldn’t have hurt to add a Wraith Spire capable of 95 W.

The Ryzen 5 5600 6-core/12-thread processor comes next. Despite AMD’s designation of the 5600G APU as the spiritual successor of the successful Ryzen 5 3600; this chip is the spiritual successor to the popular Ryzen 5 3600. The 5600 uses the same “Vermeer” MCM as the 5600X, but with slower clock speeds.

It runs at 3.50 GHz with a boost to 4.40 GHz, compared to the 5600X’s 3.70/4.60 GHz.

The Ryzen 5 5500 is an intriguing component. This 6-core/12-thread processor is built on the same monolithic “Cezanne” architecture as the Ryzen 5 5600G but without the integrated graphics.

This is the first time AMD has released three new Ryzen 4000 desktop processor models in the retail channel. All of them are based on the 7 nm “Renoir” monolithic silicon. Plus, they also feature “Zen 2” CPU cores. The list of processors in the Ryzen 4000 desktop processors, includes Ryzen 3 4100, a 4-core/8-thread chip costing $99. It goes all the way up to the Ryzen 5 4500 with 6-core and 12-thread for $129. However, the most notable chipset from the series is the Ryzen 5 4600G. It features a 6-core/12-thread setup and costs about $154.
