MediaTek unveiled its 4nm flagship Dimensity 9000 chipset a few weeks ago. The introduction of the new chipset is something. The Dimensity 9000 is the first TMSC chipset to be based on a 4nm process node. On top of that, it also features the Arm’s v9 architecture and Cortex-X2 core. What’s more, the company is working on other chipsets too, besides the Dimensity 9000 like Dimensity 7000.
Redmi’s General Manager, Lu Weibing, recently teased a new MediaTek chip with the name Dimensity 7000. We have not much information about the chipset for now. However, the tipster Digital Chat Station recently revealed some of the alleged specs of the upcoming chipset.

Dimensity 7000 chipset specs
According to the tipster, the Dimensity 7000 is based on TSMC’s 5nm process. It is equipped with an octa-core CPU setup with four performance cores and four efficiency cores. The former features a core clock running at 2.75GHz, while the latter offers 2.0GHz. The chipset is tipped to pack Arm’s Mali-G510 GPU. The GPU was announced earlier this year. The Mali-G510 is the successor of Mali G57. It should offer up to 100% performance boost and 22% improved efficiency over its predecessor. Besides that, we are not sure about other specifications of the Dimensity 7000.
From whatever we know till now, it looks like the Dimensity 7000 is aimed for the mid-range offering instead of the flagships. It will likely compete against the likes of the Snapdragon 778G based on TSMC’s 6nm processor. 778G is equipped with an octa-core CPU setup with four Cortex A78 based Kryo clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex A55 cores running at 1.8 GHz. Moreover, it is equipped with Adreno 642L GPU that offers 40% higher performance than the Adreno 620.
