Details about the upcoming Nvidia RTX 4080 and 4090 chips
As discussed earlier, the RTX 4090 is based on the Ada Lovelace generation and it is a high-end unit. According to Nvidia, the card will offer 2-4x faster speeds than the RTX 3090 Ti and will consume the same amount of power. Plus, it will feature up to 24GB of GDDR6X memory.
What’s more, the RTX 4090 is equipped with 16,384 CUDA cores. It offers a base clock of 2.23GHz with a boost clock up to 2.52GHz. On top of that, it also features 1,321 Tensor-TFLOPs, 191 RT-TFLOPs, and 83 Shader-TFLOPs.
Now, let’s talk about the Nvidia RTX 4080. Actually, the company will release this chip in two variants. The first variant will feature 12GB of GDDR6X memory whereas the second variant will feature 16GB of GDDR6X memory. This chip is 2-4x faster than RTX 3080 Ti, Nvidia claims.
Besides, the base model with 12GB of memory starts at $899. This model includes up to 7,680 CUDA cores, 639 Tensor-TFLOPs, 92 RT-TFLOPs, and 40 Shader-TFLOPs. Plus, it offers a clock boost up to 2.61GHz.
On the other hand, the 16GB model of RTX 4080 will cost $1,199. With the extra price, comes the extra power. This unit will feature 9,728 CUDA cores, 780 Tensor-TFLOPs, 113 RT-TFLOPs, and 49 Shader-TFLOPs of power. It will offer a base clock of 2.21GHz and a clock boost of up to 2.51GHz.
It is worth mentioning that both the RTX 4080 models will arrive in November.
Furthermore, all the aforementioned models will feature the new Nvidia ShadowPlay support. The tech allows users to capture gameplay at up to 8K with 60fps in HDR. Lastly, Nvidia is also adding its latest Encoders (NVENC) with AV1 encoding support to the chips.
