NVIDIA RTX 4060 Could Release in January 2023

NVIDIA is working on the RTX 4060, the most interesting aspect of the upcoming GPU is, that NVIDIA is looking to crank up the power usage by up to 60W over the current generation. What’s more, we have seen rumors about the release date of the forthcoming GPU too; it might release at the beginning of 2023.

Kopite7kimi, a famous hardware leaker, tweeted that the RTX 4060 could demand more power than the current RTX 3070; the current-gen RTX 3070 founder edition is rated at 220W. We are expecting the RTX 4060 to consume more than 220W theoretically.

What’s more, VideoCardz recently shared a potential release timeframe for the NVIDIA RTX 4000 GPUs. For the first time, we have some kind of information on the release date. According to Videocardz, the RTX 4060 could release in January 2023.

On the other hand, a report from Wccftech suggests that the RTX 4090 will release in October followed by RTX 4080 in November. The RTX 4070 will release in December 2022 with RTX 4060 following that.

Effect of increase in power usage on performance

We are looking for a huge leap whenever we talk about an increase of 50W or more. And this is not the first time NVIDIA has done something like that if it actually happens. When the company first released 2060, it cranked up the power usage by 40W. However, the bigger question is if the power usage increase will result in better performance or not. To answer that question, the increase in power usage also points to a big jump in the performance of RTX 4060 when compared with RTX 3060.

Release Date

As for the release date, NVIDIA might reveal the chip at CES 2022. Plus, it might release the RTX 4090 in October. However, a theory from the grapevine suggests an August release for the Lovelace chipset.

August seems to be quite early to release RTX 4090, but October feels a bit late too. So, the company might release the SoC in September. Anyways, whatever information that we have right now points to a possible release of RTX 4090 first followed by 4080 and 4070. Finally, the company will release 4060 at the last probably in early 2023.
