Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ May Release a Month Earlier This Year

In a recent development, we are seeing leaks suggesting that Qualcomm is working on mid-year refresh for Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. What’s more, the update could arrive little earlier this year than last few years. It came as a surprise since we haven’t seen many devices with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset; the company is already working on launching an update. According to Yogesh Brar, Qualcomm is getting ready to release the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset in early May. If this happens, the company will be launching the devices a month earlier than the Snapdragon 888 Plus that released last year. Interestingly, when the 888 model came to the market, it itself released a month earlier than the previous Plus refresh.

We are not sure about the reason for search an early update. That said, the device equipped with 8 Gen 1 processors are facing thermal problems; this might have forced the company to release an early refresh.

Moreover, we have seen various complains from Samsung’s latest device owners about overheating under stress. While gaming the devices are becoming too hot and users are even facing performance issues with their S22 smartphones.

Furthermore, this time Qualcomm might partner with TSMC to produce their new chipset instead of Samsung. The 4nm process from TSMC has higher yields, as well as it offers better efficiency from the chip.

Expected devices to feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset

As per the tipster, Brar, Lenovo, OnePlus, Motorola, and Xiaomi are the first in line to release devices featuring the ne chipset. Interestingly, we could see the debut as early as June. In fact, the forthcoming Motorola Razr 3 could be the first device to feature the chipset.
