Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the latest chipset from the company. It is usually expected from Qualcomm to blow away its competition but that might not be the case with the latest chipset. The likes of MediaTek Dimensity 9000 and Exynos 2200 will give tough competition to the chipset. In fact, early Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 gaming tests reveal that the chipset is not quite up to the task with the other two.
According to the test done by Golden Reviewer, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 doesn’t perform as expected in a 10 minutes Genshin Impact test. The reviewer conducts regular tests on the new chipset to offer insights into the chipset performance.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Tests Results
Initially, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 starts strong on the test with 60 FPS in the first few minutes. However, with a little more than two minutes in, there was a dip in performance. Specifically, the performance dropped from 60 FPS to 43 FPS. On average, the chipset manages to achieve 53 FPS in the first half of the test. It drew 8.7W of power during that time. In the second half of the test, the chipset held an average of 48 FPS, but in between the frame rate fell up to 40 FPS. Plus, the power consumption during that time was 6.3W.
It is important to note that that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 didn’t perform as badly as that of the Google Tensor. However, it didn’t perform as it was supposed to perform, especially when it is built on the newest architecture. Additionally, a 40% frame drop during a 10-minute interval further adds to the disappointment.
Overall, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 lags behind the likes of Dimensity 9000 in most available tests.

We must keep in mind different brands use non-identical cooling systems to keep SoC cool during gameplay. It may be Motorola had used an inferior cooling system. Anyway, we can’t draw any kind of conclusion with a single phone we will have to wait for more brands to release their phones with Snapdragon 8 gen 1 SoC to draw any conclusion.
