Google Pixel 6a may have appeared in images earlier this week. Anyways, we have already come across more details about it that go beyond its design and display size. Newly surfaced information suggests that Google will integrate its Tensor chip into its low-cost A-series phone. However, the important thing to note here is that the cameras may return in a familiar configuration.

This new information was present within a Google Camera app, as Google frequently leaves this type of information inside its apps. Even when the company knows full well someone will discover this information. This time, 9to5Google discovered it and the platform suggests that it is a Pixel 6a device, codenamed “Bluejay”. It appears to be a fantastic product if the price is comparable to other A-series phones.

Pixel 6a will feature Google Tensor

The big news is that the Pixel 6a will use Google Tensor (GS101), the company’s first smartphone chip. The chipset debuted in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Tensor offers a wide range of on-device features and additional support throughout the life of a phone. On top of that, it also offers a strong performance that the A-series has never had.

Earlier, all the A-series phones used Qualcomm’s mid-range chipsets. While they worked OK, utilizing Tensor is definitely a significant improvement. Tensor is a high-end chip designed for premium smartphones such as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

If Google goes forward with Tensor in the A-series; it will be following Apple’s phone approach of employing the same top-tier chip in all phones, regardless of price.

Pixel 6a might also feature familiar cameras

Besides the Tensor chipset, Google might also employ a standard camera arrangement. The Sony IMX363 primary sensor came to light by this leaked Google Camera app. It is the same 12.2MP camera that Google used on the Pixel 3 to the Pixel 5a. A Sony IMX386, an ultra-wide-angle lens used in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, should also be included. Lastly, the phone will also include an 8MP IMX255 front camera.
