Google Pixel 7 Rear Camera Glass is Shattering Out of The Blue, Users Revealed

Google released the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro in October, in India. Both devices are powered by the second-gen Tensor G2 SoC. Users have started facing a unique problem with their Pixel 7 devices in recent days. We have seen reports of several users complaining about the sudden shattering of the rear camera glass on their devices. According to several posts on Reddit and Twitter, the camera glass of the Google Pixel 7 is shattering without any drop. Some users claim that this is happening due to material defects in the phone. What’s more, Google reportedly offered a replacement unit to one of the affected users. Plus, the problems appear to be limited to the standard variant, as of now.

Affected users took it to Twitter and Reddit to show their anger 

As discussed earlier, some users took it to Reddit and Twitter to show their discontent about the recent events. Some users said their Pixel 7 camera glass shattered without any falling or dropping while others revealed it happened with their devices sitting in a case. 

A Twitter user, Heydon Faber (@CSThrowaway) shared a picture of the broken rear glass around the dual camera of his pixel device. He said: ” It’s clearly a manufacturing defect, and I know I’m not the only one”.

What’s more, Google has not acknowledged this to be a widespread issue yet. Moreover, users tried contacting the Google Support team. They got a response that the physical damage to the devices is not included under the warranty program. It appears as if users might have to bear the cost to get their devices fixed.

Furthermore, a Reddit user to his affected Pixel 7 devices to the uBreakiFix store. He was told that they have to replace the entire back panel and it would cost around $200. According to the post, he sent the pictures of the broken glass to Google and the company offered him a replacement, in return. 

We recommend all the affected Pixel 7 users to contact Google support immediately.
