Customers who have submitted their iPhones to an official retailer or Authorized Service Provider and are waiting too long to get them serviced, Apple will loan you an iPhone XR device starting November 4.

Apple had already given loan iPhone 8 models to customers:

Assuming you don’t already have a backup iPhone, you’ll be getting a new one starting next week. Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers will offer customers an iPhone XR as a loaner smartphone for longer repairs, according to an internal document acquired by MacRumors. The benefit of this arrangement is that the company is not only offering it in the United States but also in other countries.

A current Apple device must be shipped to a repair center to be fixed before an iPhone XR may be rented to an Apple user. The consumer would then have to return the iPhone XR and pick up their serviced iPhone. The lending agreement stipulates that you have to return the loaned iPhone XR devices within 14 days of receiving notification from Apple that their repaired iPhone is available for collection.

The iPhone XR is a major upgrade over the iPhone 8, so if you’ve loaned one, you’ll notice a considerable difference starting later this week. For starters, it supports Face ID and dual-SIM cards, as compared to the iPhone 8’s Touch ID-only capability. The iPhone XR also comes with a larger 6.1-inch display, which means more screen real estate and a larger battery. The iPhone 8’s 4.7-inch screen seems dwarfed in comparison.

Last but not least, owing to its A12 Bionic chipset, the iPhone XR offers improved performance. If you were not happy with the iPhone 8’s performance, the new phone may brighten your day.
