Apple is by far one of the most iconic tech brands in the world. With a vast portfolio of innovative products, it has become a global phenomenon like no other. A product that is as much a status symbol, as much as it is an innovation; it has a cult following the world over. Without a doubt, the iPhone 12 is something that every fan is looking forward to.
Apple unveiled the iPhone 12 on September 15 in one of its tech events. The event also included products such as the Apple Watch 5, iPad Air and so on. It is now time for the iPhone’s announcement to commence, since about a month has passed from the previous event.
What is especially interesting, is that this is not exactly like the earlier releases. But comes ‘bundled’ with a few other hints about its true nature. For example, the iPhone 12 series will have iPhone Pro, iPhone 12 Mini, etc, according to tech rumors.
The ‘Mini’ part is especially interesting and strange at the same time. Apple has never released a phone using the word ‘mini’ in its name so far. In fact, the iPhone 12 is believed to be a ‘range’ rather than a ‘standalone’ product. There will be several variants available under this range.
The iPhone 12 is going to feature at least four phones, according to rumors. Specifically, the main iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Each of these phones in turn, should they be part of the larger range, would come with a host of their own unique features and specifications, each suited to a specific user base.

What iPhone 12 specs should you expect?
While there are several specifications that are of interest, here are some of the important ones.
Chipset
It is expected that the iPhone will have the 5nm A14 Bionic chipset, given that it was first announced to have been used in the iPad Air 2020. The processor, with its six cores and a 16-core Neural Engine, makes it one of the fastest ones around, and certainly faster than the Snapdragon 865.
Additionally, the RAM is also likely to increase, with the Pro Max variant featuring 6 GB, and storage capacity reaching a 512 GB on the high end.
Camera
An overhaul of the camera is also expected, with two cameras expected on the lower end, while the higher models are said to feature three. In addition to this, the Pro and Pro Max are also expected to come with a LiDAR scanner, which is absent in the 12 and 12 Max.
As for the MP Factor, it is expected that the camera would be 64 MP, compared to the 12 MP in the earlier variants. Other aspects include greater functionality in low-light, 3X optical zoom, improvement to the autofocus feature and better image stabilization.
Another important feature worth mentioning is the 7-element wide-angle lens, which is something that would lead to better image quality, thanks to lesser aberrations and diminished distortions.
Front Camera
Not much is known about the front-facing camera. However, rumors suggest that major changes could be expected from it, which range from better facial recognition technology to a ‘Time-of-Flight’ feature that would replace the depth sensor in use in current versions.
Battery & Related
As far as the battery is concerned, the Mini is expected to have one of 2,227 mAh of power, while the iPhone 12 and Pro have ones with 2,775 mAh. The highest of them all, would be the Pro Max, which is expected to be 3,687 mAh.
On the downside, it is expected that the phones would feature a cheaper battery board, which is said to be an effort to keep costs down. A possible effect this could have on the phone would be its battery life, which could be affected, even though it’s still only a likelihood.
What colors will the iPhone 12 come in?
Rumors suggest that the iPhone 12 would feature a few different colors.
The iPhone 12 and 12 Mini are expected to be available in several colors, namely, grey, gold, silver, and green.
Also, the Midnight Green color that the iPhone 11 Pro sported may continue to be used, or perhaps scrapped. In its place, a Navy Blue variant is expected to be utilized specially on the high-end version.
To sum up, it seems likely that the same color features seen in the iPhone 11 is expected to be seen in the 12 range, with low-end models featuring more colors, while the same being limited on the higher ones.
What screen will the iPhone 12 have?
There is much buzz about the type of screen that the iPhone screen would have.
To begin with, the screen is said to be very different from the iPhone 11, and is expected to come in a range of different sizes.
The basic of models, the iPhone 12 Mini, is expected to have the smaller displays, at 5.4 inches, while the two mid-variants, the iPhone 12 Max and Pro, are expected to be at 6.1 inches.
The largest of them all, is expected to be at around 6.7 inches, in the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
In addition to this, the screens themselves are expected to be OLED, which is a first for the product. In addition to this, the phones will sport a 120 Hz screen.
Will iPhone 12 Support 5G?
According to rumors, the phone will come with 5G, although it isn’t quite clear.
As per Jon Prosser, the models will come with a custom-made 5G antenna. But it is likely that 5G ready features will only be applicable to the two top-end models. And the base models may not support mmWave 5G technology.
Another report about this very issue suggest that only the iPhone Pro Max will come with mmWave 5G connectivity.
However, from the leaked model specifications; it is clear that the SIM slot on the phone has been moved from the right to the left. The change would imply that it was done in order to facilitate space for 5G antennas.
Should you buy the iPhone 11 or wait for the next version of the iPhone?
As for the final question, it really depends on what you are looking for.
If all you need is an iPhone for the product’s brand appeal and its many features, you can go ahead with an iPhone 11. But if the iPhone 12 is what you seek. It would be a good idea to wait a little bit longer.
In general, though, it would be a great idea to simply wait for a couple of weeks. . That way, you’ll not only have the choice of the latest model. But it is also likely to get a lower price for the earlier version.
To sum up, one can expect the iPhone 12 to be one of the more positive things to look forward to, among many others.
