Apple might follow the strategy of Android OEMs with the launch of the iPhone 14 series. Specifically, what Android OEMs do is they don’t equip the lower-end variants with the latest tech. They leave it to the users to either purchase a higher-end version if they want the latest tech or manage with the old tech. The strategy to give choice to the users seems to work well for Android smartphones. We will have to wait to see if it proves effective for iPhones as well.
The iPhone 14 vanilla variant might feature the old design and chipset. On the other hand, the high-end Pro variants will feature major upgrades in most areas. Anyways, let’s talk about the upcoming iPhone 14 series in detail.
.
iPhone 14 series design
The biggest design change in the upcoming iPhones is that Apple has finally decided to remove the boat-shaped notch. However, the company has brought something else in its place. The new iPhones will feature a “pill + hole” design on the front.

As a result of the aforesaid change, the Face ID and True Depth camera system have been rearranged. We have seen both pill-shaped as well as dot-shaped cutouts. However, this is the first time we will see both of them together.

iPhone 14 series Specifications
Display
The Pro models could feature 120Hz displays, whereas the other two variants will continue having 60Hz panels. As per reports, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 will feature a 6.1-inch OLED display panel with 1170×2532 pixel resolutions. On the other hand, the Max and Pro Max models might get a 6.7-inch panel with 1284×2778 pixel resolutions.
Chipset, Storage, RAM, and more
As previously discussed, all the variants from the iPhone 14 models will not feature upgrades. As a result, the iPhone 14 regular variant will feature the last year’s Bionic A15 chipset. While the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will get a Bionic A16 chipset. On top of that, the Pro models will feature 8GB of RAM and up to 2TB of storage.
We are not sure about the battery capacities of the upcoming iPhones. Apple never reveals details about battery units. However, we have heard rumors suggesting the new iPhones will offer improved battery life.
Camera
The Pro models will also feature camera improvements. For instance, they might house a 48MP primary camera sensor, alongside a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 12MP telephoto camera. However, the most notable addition will be a high-end front camera, at least that is what reports suggest. It appears Apple has partnered with LG to develop an advanced front camera.
What’s more, the cameras on the upcoming devices might also get autofocus. This will provide better focus during video calls and more depth in portrait mode.
iPhone 14 series Expected release date
Before talking about the release date, it is worth mentioning that Apple will launch four iPhone 14 models, including iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. We might not get the Mini variant this time. All that being said, we are still far away from iPhone 14 series release, so we will get to know more details about forthcoming iPhones in the coming months.
.
iPhone 14 series leaked price
Apple will increase the pricing for the iPhone series. A recent report about the pricing also suggests the same thing. According to the report, the iPhone 14 Pro could start at $1,099 which is $100 more than iPhone 13 Pro. For Indian users, the iPhone 13 Pro had a price tag of Rs 1,19,900 when it first launched in India. In addition to that, the iPhone 14 Pro Max might feature the same price increase. If that happens, it will cost $1,199 in the US, which is about Rs 93,010.
