Google released the OTA update for eligible Pixel phones shortly after pushing Android 13 to AOSP in the middle of August. Since then, all of the major producers of Android smartphones have been putting a lot of effort into updating their phones to the newest OS version. While some brands like Xiaomi and Motorola, have fallen far behind, Samsung and OnePlus have excelled at this. Nevertheless, Motorola announced a tentative list of devices that will receive the Android 13 update in August 2022. However, we didn’t hear any update since then for a long time but that has changed now. In a recent development, Motorola has announced devices in the company’s portfolio that are compatible with the most recent Android update.

New features

After the software update, Motorola customers will be able to access the OS’s native capabilities with the Android 13 update. The design of Android 13 takes it to another level with features like auto-theming icons that adjust to the theme and wallpaper, an expanded colour palette that gives users more freedom, and better animations. These capabilities will be available to Moto users soon.

Furthermore, instead of the whole photo library as it did in the past, the photo picker now only allows apps access to the photos you permit. Additionally, it is better organized and refined visually. The new notification permissions are one of Android 13’s most significant changes. Apps are now asking for permission to access calls, contacts, cameras, etc. Lastly, they will also need to request authorization to send push alerts with Android 13.
