Nothing Phone (2) to Launch Later This Year

Nothing Phone (1)

Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, revealed that the company will not be releasing the Nothing Phone (2) anytime soon. The CEO further added that he doesn’t want the company to become like other OEMs that release a bunch of smartphones all over the year. On the contrary, he wants Nothing to focus on the Nothing Phone (1) and enhancing the software. Obviously, this was bad news for some of the users who were eagerly waiting for the Nothing Phone (2). However, recently Nothing’s founder has changed his stance as he said that the Phone (2) will release in 2023, in an interview with Inverse.

Pei shared that Nothing Phone (2) could release in late 2023

The Phone (2) will make its debut in the US, Pei stated in the interview. The phone is also anticipated to launch “in late 2023.” For those unfamiliar, Nothing bases its business strategy on giving users a better experience than its Android rivals, who often focus on hardware characteristics. However, the impending Nothing smartphone is reportedly a high-end model this time. This implies that the phone may be more expensive than its forerunner. Pei gave no specifics, but there were enough signs to suggest that the forthcoming smartphone will feature more advanced specifications than its predecessor. He also reiterated that software will remain a priority.

When asked if the Phone(2) will compete against flagship smartphones like iPhone 14 and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Pei responded, “I think the market and the industry have advanced very much since those days. In terms of user experience, the Phone (1)’s spec sheet was pretty useful for us. Over the past 7-9 years, mobile chipsets have made significant advancements. I don’t want to refer to the Phone (2) as a flagship, because doing so would imply that the Phone (1) wasn’t a flagship.” In terms of the level of care, we put into the device within our line-up of smartphones, the Phone (1) was a flagship.
