Thanks to the integrated 65W Warp charger; the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro are two of the fastest charging phones on the market; moving from zero to full in roughly half an hour. However, if we are to believe a leaker; the OnePlus 10 Pro will leave its predecessors in the dust with a 125W charging boost.

Mukul Sharma, who has a history of OnePlus leaks, has provided a list of handsets that are rumored to have 125W charging, including Realme and Oppo handsets, as well as the OnePlus 10 Pro.

A charger with double the power doesn’t always mean twice the charging speed

To be clear, a charger with nearly double the power does not necessarily mean twice the charging speed. Given that the two firms officially joined forces in June, OnePlus is expected to use the 125W Flash Charge technology that Oppo announced last year. If that’s the case, Oppo claims that charging a 4,000mAh battery will take 20 minutes. And, assuming the OnePlus 10 Pro has the same 4,500 mAh battery as the OnePlus 9 Pro, the charging time will be between 20 and 25 minutes.

In other words, there’s a law of diminishing returns at work here, and you could wonder if a five- to ten-minute time savings is worth the change, especially since faster charging might shorten a battery’s lifespan.

According to Android Authority, the 125W Flash Charge would “keep” battery capacity at 80 percent after 800 full charge and discharge cycles. It is down from the 91 percent stated by the 65W charger. Of course, it was a year ago, and it’s possible that the technology has since been polished and enhanced. However, considering the modest improvement in real-world charging times, it still remains a problem.
