OnePlus To Reintroduce Auxiliary Camera Support For OnePlus 9 Series

OnePlus started rolling out the OxygenOS 12 stable update for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. However, the company stopped the rollout since the update was carrying several bugs. Users started reporting several issues once the update was installed on their OnePlus device. On top of the bugs, broken GCam Mod support is one of the reasons that prevented some of the users from installing the new update.

What’s more, users who managed to install the new update on their device were no longer able to access their auxiliary cameras, including the ultra-wide lens and telephoto camera in the modded Google Camera app. It is something that users are finding disappointing. A lot of people were dependent on GCam as it offered considerably improved picture quality over the stock Oneplus camera app. There were many speculations about why OnePlus has removed the support for third-party apps to access the camera. However, now OnePlus has announced that it will restore auxiliary camera access for third-party apps.

Anyways, the company has now started rolling out the update again after fixing a few issues. OnePlus shared the news through a post on the OnePlus forum. The company stated that it has started releasing a new version of OxygenOS 12 for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. The aforesaid update is carrying more bug fixes than the previous update. That said, the update doesn’t solve the auxiliary camera support issue on the OnePlus 9 series. In any case, the company has already revealed that it will soon reintroduce the camera support on the devices. This is obviously good news for all OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro users. We have already seen OPPO removing support for auxiliary cameras permanently with ColorOS.
