OnePlus’s OxygenOS update cycle isn’t particularly fast; even its most recent flagships frequently fall behind schedule once it gets to security patches. As a result, it’s not unusual that the OnePlus 7 and 7T series phones are only receiving their October security patch now; as we approach November.

The OxygenOS 11.0.4.1 update doesn’t add much new functionality. However, it does answer one nagging issue you may have encountered recently; the issue of slow display of incoming calls has been resolved. The changelog also contains a conventional “Improved system stability” entry, however that doesn’t simply guarantee you’ll notice any improvement In routine activities.

So if you do have a OnePlus 7 or 7T series phone, you should test for the update straight away. Because OnePlus is only steadily rolling out the update, it’s possible that you haven’t received it yet. Because the rollout is really not restricted to any particular country, using a VPN may not help you get it. If you would not want to sit tight, you can sideload the latest OTA using the informal Oxygen Updater tool.

Though that’s not a particularly exciting release, OnePlus does schedule to upgrade the phones to Android 12. Given the company’s track record and the notion that the OnePlus 6T received its Android 11 upgrade in August 2021, it’s unlikely that you’ll see it before the end of the year.
