Over the previous two weeks, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro have been thoroughly revealed. We have seen the rumored product launch videos demonstrating Magic Eraser and Live Translate in operation. The only thing that remained a mystery was the Pixel 6 pricing, but that changed today according to a new leak.

Pixel 6 Pricing according to the leak

On Twitter, YouTuber M Brandon Lee from This is Tech Today uploaded numerous photos of Target’s inventory system. These photos show the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro starting at $599 and $898, respectively. The latter does sound strange, and there’s a chance it’ll be changed to $899. The listing also specifies an October 28 “street date” for the Pixels; it is business jargon meaning the day they will be available for purchase.

Previous Pixel phones were not recognized for providing a lot of value for the money. But it appears that with the Pixel 6 series, Google intends to change that. If the reported pricing is genuine, the Pixel 6 could launch as the most affordable Android flagship.

Despite Rick Osterloh earlier suggesting that the Pixel 6 Pro would be a “premium-priced” product, the $899 price tag appears to be pretty affordable; which obviously is not that cheap, but we’ve become too accustomed to thinking that this means it will cost over $1000.

Pricing compared with the old iteration

In comparison, the Pixel 4 and 4 XL were released in the United States in 2019 for $799 and $899. Due to a variety of circumstances, including increased component prices and a semiconductor scarcity; the prices of premium and flagship Android devices have risen dramatically since then. Even with flagship specs, the Pixel 6 will be $100 less expensive than the mid-range Pixel 5; which was released last year at $699.

While the price difference between the Pixel 6 Pro and the Pixel 6 is significant, it makes sense because the Pixel 6 Pro has a better camera system with a 4x telephoto lens, a larger 6.7-inch LTPO display, and a longer-lasting 5,000mAh battery. It will also be the fastest-charging Pixel ever, with a charging time of just 30 minutes.
