Now, we have a better idea about Pixel 7 Pro’s specs thanks to a new benchmark. Specifically, we know more about the CPU and GPU in the Google Tensor G2 chip.

According to reports, Google might launch the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 during Google’s October 6 hardware event. The company has already introduced the devices at Google I/O. However, it is still to confirm several important features of the devices.

The impending “Tensor G2 ” chip, has been one of the major mysteries. It is developed in partnership with Samsung and might be the second generation of the Google Tensor chip developed. People are wondering when Google will release the next iteration of the Tensor line. After all, it had a great debut but has since fallen behind the competition over the last year.

Moreover, we now have solid proof of the performance of Pixel 7 Pro thanks to Android developer Kuba Wojciechowski. We also have some idea about what the Tensor G2 chip will bring to the table. However, all of the details should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Google has not changed much about the CPU cores. The device seems to have the same combination of two Cortex-X1 cores, two Cortex-A76 cores, and four Cortex-A55 cores. However, this chip will offer better clock speeds. The new boost speeds alongside the 4nm die size might offer up to 10% performance improvements.

It may look like a small improvement on the surface. However, it is important to note that we are not looking for a raw performance improvement from Pixel 7. On the contrary, the Pixel 7 needs to catch up with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in terms of heat and power efficiency. The new design can make that happen.

Furthermore, the Pixel 7 Pro with Tensor G2 can make a significant jump in its GPU performance. As the company has decided to switch from Mali-G78 to Mali-G710. The new CPU will offer about 20% performance improvement, 20% battery improvement, and more.

All in all, the picture looks quite rosy for the new device so far.
