Android’s software experience on tablets and foldable has never been excellent, but the next Android 12L version could change that very soon. The update improves the system UI to take benefit from the larger screens. It includes changes like a dual-panel notification center that allows users to concurrently read notifications and engage with quick settings.
The update schedule was published yesterday. It revealed that the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are eligible for Android 12L, putting rest to any questions. It will be the series’ final installment, with security upgrades ending in May 2021.
The first beta build of Android 12L will arrive in December. The update might finally release in the first quarter of 2022.
This comes on the heels of a rumor claiming that the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have reached end-of-life status. Plus, they would no longer receive Android updates or security patch updates.
However, the devices are still eligible for one last upgrade. Google will roll out another security update for both of them, with a launch date scheduled for Q1 2022. Last year, the Pixel 2 and 2 XL were subjected to a similar pattern; Google skipped the November patch in favor of a December upgrade.

The update will carry fix for bugs
This last Pixel 3 update is expected to offer a slew of Android 12 bug patches. The update added Material You support. Nevertheless, it has left out several other features, such as those that require the new Google Assistant.
The only disappointing thing here is that the Pixel 3 series; although receiving a similar release date for its previous update; has yet to be included in the Android 12L compatibility list.
