Just a few days ago, we reported an issue related to app throttling on Galaxy S22 series. It was degrading apps’ performance on the device. If we go into details, there was an app installed on Galaxy S22 devices- the Game Optimizing Service. It was responsible for throttling various apps to optimize game performance. However, it was not impacting benchmarking applications. The company could have known about the issue but it didn’t reveal anything beforehand. And when the issue came to light Samsung stated that it is investigating the issue. Anyways, the company has rolled out a software update to fix the issue.

Samsung’s New Update to fix the Galaxy S22 throttling
A Korean Galaxy S22 user recently shared a screenshot displaying the software update that will supposedly fix the Game Optimizing Services throttling.
Users can now enable a performance setting in games that will not throttle the CPU or GPU thanks to the new update. There will, however, be a game performance management option that users must deal with. What this is, no one knows. Even after the fix is applied, we might see some type of throttling occur on the Galaxy S22. Because the phone must still avoid overheating during prolonged gaming sessions, this is the case.
It’s fantastic to see Samsung finally address the Galaxy S22 throttling issue. However, it remains to be seen when the update will be available in other countries. Furthermore, the GOS issue could affect older Samsung devices, such as the Galaxy S21 and previous-generation flagships. Those phones will also require updates.
