The iPhone 14 was initially made accessible to the public in mid-September 2022. Since then, the new phone has caused a number of troubles for early users in just about a month. The problems includes activation issues and a difficulty with blurry photographs when using specific camera apps. However, recently users are facing a new iPhone 14 bug.

In an internal memo, Apple acknowledges that the iPhone 14 series has a bug that causes a pop-up warning that reads “SIM Not Supported,”. The issue is frequently followed by the device freezing. Apple did not rule out the idea that the issue is a hardware issue. Anyways, it stated that it is looking into the matter.

Apple updated iOS to 16.0.2 late last month to fix that flaw as well as several others. The company released iOS 16.0.3 a week ago. One of the problems it patched was one that let an intruder send emails using two double quote marks rather than the initial portion of a legitimate email address in the “from” box. The Apple Mail app would crash and the user would lose access to his Apple Mail account when the receiver opened this email in the Apple Mail app.

What to do if a SIM not supported warning appears?

First and foremost, don’t take any action if your iPhone 14 displays the “SIM not supported” message. Don’t try to fix it yourself, and don’t restore or factory reset your iPhone, to be more precise. Instead, Apple advises to give your iPhone some alone time before checking to see if the message has vanished. If that’s the case, you should be able to resume regular phone use.

If, even giving your iPhone some time alone, the error message persists, you must travel to an Apple Store or an authorised service provider.

Apple is reportedly investigating the issue. Since the inquiry is ongoing, there isn’t a clear solution for how you can fix it or prevent it from happening in the first place. It does appear to have concluded that the issue is probably tied to the iPhone 14’s software. Plus, it is advised that you maintain iOS as current as possible in the interim.
