Dyson V15 Detect Vacuum Cleaner: Overview

Dyson has a long history of making quality vacuum cleaners, and with the Dyson V15 Detect Vacuum Cleaner Review, we get to see the culmination of this experience. First off, it’s a cordless vacuum, one of the most powerful the company has ever put out. It makes using the Dyson V15 Detect pretty convenient. Combining this with its fairly lightweight design despite its robust function set, it makes for a vacuum cleaner that’s easy to handle.

Despite this, it doesn’t slack out on power either. Where most portable cordless vacuum cleaners tend to be less powerful, the Dyson V15 Detect is one of the most powerful vacuum cleaners from Dyson so far. Adding to this, we have a unique hard-floor cleaning head, featuring a laser to identify tiny dust particles that you’d otherwise not be able to get rid of.

On top of that, you get a brand new digital LED display, displaying information on your battery life, cleaning mode, and particle levels. It’s an interesting contraption for sure, and with so many bells and whistles, we’re eager to see how it holds up.

Dyson V15 Detect: Design and Build Quality

Starting with the Dyson V15 Detect’s design and build, things are looking pretty solid. While the build of the vacuum cleaner is mostly plastic, it avoids the common issue of feeling cheap or fragile. Instead, the Dyson V15 Detect is robust, with every piece fitting together perfectly. At no point during use did we worry about whether we were handling the device properly, a testament to its excellent design.

It weighs in at a hair over 3 kilograms, with a total length of 49.6 inches, a width of 9.8 inches, and a height of 10.3 inches. While it’s slightly on the larger side of cordless vacuum cleaners, it never becomes unwieldy or difficult to handle. As a bonus, the Dyson V15 Detect can even be shortened and used as a handheld vacuum for more portability.

As with any high-end vacuum cleaner, the Dyson V15 Detect features a slew of different attachments for making your life easier. While we’ll go more in-depth on their functions in the performance section of the review, here we’d like to note that they’re all equally well-built, never feeling like cheap add-ons. Every extra fits perfectly on the vacuum cleaner without any issues or difficulty.

The aforementioned LED display sits comfortably on the handle of the Dyson V15 Detect. It’s easy to glean any relevant information in a single glance, and it helps that the graphics are all clear and bright. This ethos of design carries over to the entire device, remaining quite charlatan and functional from a design perspective. Dustbin capacity sits at 0.2 gallons, which comes up to 3 cups of dry debris.

Overall, we find nothing to complain about when it comes to the design of the Dyson V15 Detect. Everything here works well, looks good, and doesn’t get in the way. At a glance, you might not even realize that this is one of the most expensive vacuum cleaners on the market, and to be fair, that’s good. A vacuum cleaner should look functional, not boisterous.

Dyson V15 Detect: Performance

Vacuum cleaners can look great and feel good to use, but ultimately what matters is how well they perform. So, how does the Dyson V15 Detect hold up to the competition, and does it live up to the lofty expectations it sets for itself? To find out, we’ve set the product up, testing it on a variety of different circumstances to see how well it performs in each one.

Before that, let’s detail what extras come with the Dyson V15 Detect. We have a dusting brush, a crevice tool, a fluffy head for hard floors, a hair screw tool, a high torque head, and a dirt brush. All of these fit perfectly and work as you’d expect. We else get a charger, as expected, and a wall mount so you can keep the vacuum cleaner in a corner neatly. Now, let’s get into its performance.

For hard flooring, the Dyson V15 Detect does a perfect job with no noticeable weaknesses. It picks up rough small objects without fail, and even when it comes to much finer things like sand and dust, it cleans effortlessly. By the time we were done testing, the hard floors were as good as new.

Moving on to carpet flooring, the Dyson V15 Detect once again does a phenomenally good job. Like with the last test, the vacuum cleaner practically manages to clean every type of litter we could throw at it without fail. While there are still small amounts of residue with the finer things like sugar and sand, it’s still an impressive performer.

Using the hair screw tool, we also find that the Dyson V15 Detect effortlessly deals with long hair. While most vacuum cleaners tangle up hairs leading to blockage and suction issues, the hair screw tool straightens hairs out, leading to there being no blockage. Overall, the Dyson V15 Detect is easily one of, if not the best cordless vacuum cleaners we’ve ever tested out.

Dyson V15 Detect: Battery Life

Now, while it performs well, you may ask, how long does the Dyson V15 Detect last? After all, as a cordless vacuum cleaner, most of the time you’ll be running it off of a battery pack. Since we’ve tested it out, we can confirm that off of the charging dock, the vacuum cleaner can withstand 47 minutes of continuous use.

This changes depending on the mode you’re using, however. On Eco mode, the run time extends to a more respectable one hour and 10 minutes. Using the more power-hungry boost form on the other hand drains the battery like there’s no tomorrow, leaving you with just over 9 minutes of usage. Recharging the Dyson V15 Detect takes 4.5 hours too, so be weary while you use it.

We are however happy to see that the Dyson V15 Detect supports click-in batteries. This means that if you run out of power while cleaning, you can always hot-swap out your old battery for a new one and continue with your day. While it doesn’t last the longest, this does give it a head-up compared to some of the competition.

Dyson V15 Detect: Conclusion

So, is the Dyson V15 Detect worth it at its ₹65,900 price range? Based on what we’ve found here, we think the answer is a resounding yes. The Dyson V15 Detect comes from years of iteration and advancement, resulting in a near-flawless product with no obvious downsides. If you’re looking for the best-in-class vacuum cleaner you could possibly get, this is as good as it gets.
