Google recently revitalized Wear OS and the move is turning out to be a game changer. What’s more, the company revealed a few more Wear OS features today at Unpacked, including an upgraded Play Store and improved Google Maps integration.
The Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro ship with Wear OS 3.5 and the enhanced One UI Watch 4.5 skin.
During the Unpacked event, Samsung bragged that the Galaxy Watch 4 had led to a three-fold increase in the number of active Wear OS watches on the market. Later, Samsung invited Google to talk about changes coming to Wear OS as a whole. Later this year, the firm will also include Deezer and SoundCloud in the Wear OS.

Moreover, Google also has also unveiled that the Google Maps software for Wear OS now has offline navigation functionality. With this update, you won’t need a smartphone to continue using Maps. According to Google, this function will be accessible “later this year.”
Samsung continues, “And soon you won’t need a smartphone connection to use Google Maps on your wrist to navigate. The addition of additional apps like SoundCloud and Deezer in the updates will be welcomed by fans of music and audio.”
Furthermore, Google is also making changes to the OS Play Store. The main aim is to make it similar to that of smartphones. Later this year, the Play Store for Wear OS will offer fresh app collections, showcase top apps, and offer “personalized suggestions.”
