Yesterday, MediaTek showcased its next flagship chipset, the MediaTek Dimensity 9200. The new Chipset will be a fierce competitor to Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and Apple’s Bionic A16 processor. The efficiency and performance of the chipset will increase thanks to a number of upgrades.
MediaTek Dimensity 9200 specs
The 4nm Immortalis-G715 GPU will be used in the octa-core chipset, which has eight cores. Three Cortex A715 cores are clocked at 2.85GHz, one Cortex X3 core is clocked at 3.05GHz, and four Cortex A510 cores are clocked at 2.0GHz, according to what is visible. Furthermore, it is stated that the configuration provides faster network performance and better cameras.

The most significant speedups include visuals. One of the first devices to employ the new Immortalis-G715 GPU from ARM is the Dimensity 9200. It offers hardware ray tracing, three times the triangle throughput, and higher efficiency. According to MediaTek, it consumes 41 percent less power while being up to 32 percent faster than Dimensity 9000.
Other changes are more subtle, yet they are also beneficial. The 9200 supports both sub-6GHz and millimetre wave 5G, in contrast to many MediaTek chips, enabling quick cellular data in more regions of the world. The first image signal processor to support RGBW camera sensors is the Imagiq 890, which promises photographs with greater brightness and detail compared to RGB. Additionally, it might lessen motion blur.
You can also count on compatibility for the most recent LPDDR5X memory (8.5Gbps), 24-bit/192KHz audio, and quick UFS 4.0 storage.
By the end of 2022, the first phones powered by the Dimensity 9200 should be accessible. Given that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is probably coming soon, Qualcomm won’t necessarily be concerned about this. However, this might include MediaTek in more expensive phones, which is advantageous for both competition and choice.
